There is restroom & no drinking water. A variety of plant communities occur on the property, including floodplain swamp and oak scrub along the Withlacoochee River and longleaf pine turkey oak sandhills occurring in upland areas. Recovering stands of oak scrub scattered amid the sandhill support the threatened Florida scrub-jay. This is also a multi trail use.
From Dunnellon got East on CR 484, you will see the sign for Pruitt Trailhead. Turn Right & Pruitt Trailhead will be first then alittle bit down is the Halpata Tastanaki Preserve Trailhead. From Ocala turn Left on CR 484 & just past the Dunnellon Airport on the left you will see the sign for Pruitt Trailhead. Turn Left & Pruitt Trailhead will be first then alittle bit down is the Halpata Tastanaki Preserve Trailhead.
